Basement & Bar

Basements

Whether you are starting with a clean slate, or you have a cramped and musty gem from the 1970s, we can help you transform your lower level into a comfortable and functional space that the entire family can enjoy. Home theatres, crafting areas, gyms, bedrooms, music practice spaces, home offices, bathrooms, (we’ve even done a batting cage!). Whatever you need, or can imagine, we can build for you.

"We decided to update the basement in step with the needs of the family. Jason turned the basement into a highly functional and comfortable family space, for activities, games, entertaining, or just hanging out watching TV. We love it!"

DRAG THE SLIDER TO SEE THE TRANSFORMATION

Before & After

Looking into a small corner of a client’s basement, an unused play space has been transformed into a new wet bar and refreshment area. No more hiking upstairs to the kitchen for a drink or snack.

A new Open Plan

When we first saw this Edgemont home, it had its original musty 1977 oak paneled basement, cut into tiny rooms because of the multiple tele-posts breaking up the space. We repaired cracks in the foundation, engineered and installed a new main beam and footings, removed the tele-posts, and updated the entire basement, complete with floating floors, spray-foam insulation, soundproofing, coffered drop ceiling with lots of light, a cold-storage pantry, workshop, large custom laundry, a huge open-plan family room with stone and fir features, and tons of storage.

Repairing a Leaky Basement.

This Edgemont client had been dealing with foundation cracks, and seeping water in their developed basement for years, resulting in damage to the interior finishes, trim and carpet, mould, rot, and inability to use the space. A previous “band-aid” repair by another Contractor was ineffective at dealing with the root cause of the problems, so we came in and dealt with the problem properly. We exposed the problem foundation and floors, removed the carpet and sections of the concrete floor and footings, injected the foundation cracks with epoxy, drilled relief holes in the footings, and using platon, pipes, drain rock and gravity, directed all that troublesome exterior groundwater into a properly designed new under-slab weeping tile, and extra-deep sump system. We then replaced the concrete we removed, replaced all the damaged and mouldy materials, and rinstalled the carpet with new underpad, restoring the basement to it’s original condition, new drywall, paint and trim…it’s as good as new, and dry as a bone.
